1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 partners will experience depression, anxiety, or other distressing thoughts and feelings during pregnancy, postpartum, after a loss, or during the infertility process. Black women have three times the mortality rate of white women. And the perinatal LGTBQIA+ community struggles with mental health at a higher rate than cis-gendered parents. The difficult feelings, thoughts, and circumstances do not need to be navigated alone. Fortunately, symptoms can be managed with the guidance of professional help.
