Kara is a clinically licensed social worker with over 20 years of experience in women’s health and mental health, supporting individuals across the reproductive lifespan. 

She earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Iowa, where she received specialized training from Dr. Michael O’Hara and Dr. Scott Stuart- prominent researchers in postpartum mood disorders. In 2009, she completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Kansas, continuing advanced training in women’s mental health with an emphasis on body image, eating and exercise disorders.  She became a Certified Perinatal Mental Health professional in 2022.  

She works closely with individuals experiencing grief and loss at any reproductive stage including infertility, perinatal loss and stillbirth, as well as navigating motherhood after experiencing childhood trauma.  She is currently focusing her education and training on the peri/menopausal stage of life. 

She uses a holistic approach and pulls from family systems theory, trauma and the body work, cognitive behavioral therapies and possibly some sarcastic humor on the side.
