In 2003, Meeka founded The Centimano Counseling Collective, Kansas City’s first reproductive mental health practice. An advocate at heart, she was inspired to fill the gap in specialized care and resources that she experienced after giving birth in 2000.

Over the 23 years since beginning this work, Meeka has become painfully aware of how often women are overlooked throughout every phase of their reproductive lives. She remains deeply committed to ensuring that women feel seen, cared for, and supported—from pregnancy and postpartum through perimenopause and midlife.

Meeka earned her master’s degree in social work in 1998. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and uses a family systems approach, recognizing that individual well-being is deeply connected to relationships, family dynamics, and the larger systems in which people live.

She also founded and directed a nonprofit organization that provided free resources and support to perinatal parents. In addition, Meeka served on the original committee that developed the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C), offered through Postpartum Support International.

Her work has been featured in Parents Magazine, The Kansas City Star, Fit Pregnancy, and NPR. She has been fortunate to collaborate with the University of California, Berkeley; Postpartum Support International; the University of Kansas Medical Center; Children’s Mercy Hospital; the Kansas City Maternal Child Health Coalition; Saint Luke’s Health System; AdventHealth; the Kansas Department of Health; and Parents as Teachers National Center.
