In 2003, Meeka established The Centimano Counseling Collective, the first reproductive mental health practice in Kansas City. An advocate at heart, she was driven to fill the gap in resources of specialty providers that were needed but missing when she gave birth in 2000. In the 23 years since she began this work, she has become painfully aware that women are overlooked through every phase of their reproductive life. And she remains committed to ensuring that women are cared for and supported from pregnancy through perimenopause and midlife.
Her work has been featured in Parents Magazine, The Kansas City Star, Fit Pregnancy, and NPR. She has been fortunate enough to collaborate with the University of California-Berkley, Postpartum Support International, the KU Medical Center, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City Maternal Child Health Coalition, St. Luke's Health System, Advent Health, Kansas State Health Department, and Parents-As-Teachers National.
Meeka graduated with a master’s in social work in 1998. She and was the founder and director of a nonprofit designed to offer free resources and support to perinatal parents. She served on the original committee to create the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C), available through Postpartum Support International.
